Just a lousy experiment with pop-art. I realize now how difficult studio photography is. I read once that studio photography is so easy because you can control what you want, and it is so difficult because you can control what you want. Very true, I think.

So, what did I want? To play with high-contrast and make something abstract. My parent's chessboard and my daughter's part of a long forgotten toy (I still wonder what did this red wooden ball belong to?)...the background is black paper-file. The title came at the end, looking at the picture.
PP work: a lot of it, actually. The chess board was not perfectly B&W, so I selected the ball and it's reflection, inverted selection, desaturated; then in selective colours, worked on blacks and whites. To break the routine, I selected the left part of the chessboard and applied distort filter (waves).I honestly can't remember all the steps, but basically that's it. Neatimaged (filter&sharpen), framed, resized.

As I said, this is an amateurish experiment with lots of technical faults, but I wonder if you like the idea.

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Hi Marija,
Nice experiment! Simplicity can sometimes be very intriguing... Besides - great composition, textures and definition... What more to ask for??

Time well spent, Marija, on creating a very nice piece of abstract art. I like the touch of red of the ball and its reflection and the one flat chessboard and the other waving as if it was disintegrating or being part of a parallel universe. On the right side, you have a few square of white where the lines are not quite white as the black seems to have bled into it. Very good expermiment. Well done!!!

Hi Marija, I like the idea, it is NOT a lousy experiment, it is not an amateurish one either, and you seriously under rate yourself. This is great experimentation and results - very artistic and attractive.
Sam

Hi Maria,
Cool...nice pp work. You make this one look almost computer generated. Well done.

Hello,Marija! This is a very nice experimental work! Great concept and beautiful composition! There is a lack of definition in the curve lines of the left chess board but the result is still very interesting! Well done! Michel

Beautiful creative work Marija ! With the checkerwork of right-hand side, your composition becomes very animated. I would say notes of piano start to dance and the red ball seems very tried to pass on other side. Do not say that it is a lousy experiment. The challenge is taken up like a Master. Very well done. Annie

Great experience! I like that... Just a few alements and have the feeling to see the visual of some old demo pf graphic performance on computurs. On time of the 486 computu it was very popular! :)

Hi Marija, Indeed! Rule of Thirds! Well done!

This is very striking. The composition and colours are wonderful! Very creative.

This is a great entry for the contrast hunt. Love the board you used and the one red toy. Very good work.

Very 1960's. Mary Quant would have approved.
I was hanging back until I had a fresh stock of medals. No technical words of praise - it's all been said above and you KNOW why it's good.

This is amazing Marija,
Graphics are great and the red ball is "the icing of the cake" :))
Very creative and very well executed.

Excellent experiment! Very well done!

take care, Stef :))

Hello Marija,

Nice graphic picture again ! The waves are brocken the image: well done.
The only negative thing I can say is the little ball I find too much blur.
Anyway, good picture !

Wow, great post-processing!
It totally looks like a 3D Studio Max render,
Very graphical shot.

Pozdrav, Sasa

Great experimental work. I like the result so much, very creative with all elements..
Elif

That is very cool. Nic eexperimenting! :) The polaroid style frame is interesting although I am not sure there was supposed to be text or something filling that empty space at the bottom.

It is simplicity at it's best. I like that you made the left side different than the right side. I would probably like it even if it wasn't differnt. Nice experiment! Keep it up. :) JP

Lousy?! I don't think so. ;) Love your creativity here, as well as your vision! Poor broken, forgotten toy. It has earned a place in history now!

I love it!

Nakon čitanja svih komentara nema se što posebno dodati. Usprkos, kako sama kažeš "mnogo tehničkih grešaka" (a i nema ih tako mnogo) napravila si odličnu fotku.

The title could be anything, yet the image would have been a great one. You have done excellent PP, butwhat is more important is the imaginative visualization.
Great photograph, Marija.

Marija, raj experiment ti je dobro uspeo. Interesantne površine koje kao da se ukrivljuju u nevidljivoj barijeri.
Lepo ;-)

Hi Marija,

A great experiment, with interesting PP. This image works for me. Very interesting. The only suggestion I would have is that the red ball is a powerful focus in this image, maybe a slightly higher angle with the ball backlit with a white square would have added to the dramatic effect??? Just an idea. Well done, cheers Karey.

Puro arte gráfico ˇmis felicitaciones!
