Hi Frans, I hope it wasn't wild as it would be well off course.
The picture is good, sharp and colourful.
It is of course a caracara.
The caracara is a long-legged, carrion-eating bird of the FALCON family, Falconidae. It is found in warmer areas of the New World and is the national emblem of Mexico. The U.S. species, Caracara cheriway, is found in parts of Texas, Arizona, and Florida and ranges to southern South America. It is approximately the size of the OSPREY (60 cm/24 in) and in flight resembles that bird in shape and coloration, but its middle underparts are dark, whereas the osprey's are white. Unlike the osprey, the caracara has a black crest and a bare, red face. Caracaras inhabit prairie lands, where they scavenge in the company of vultures, which they dominate. At times, however, they feed on small live animals.
