A picture taken on a gloriously hot and clear day at Cala St. Vicenc in north-east Mallorca two years ago. On a cold, wet October night here in Scotland, this brings back lovely memories of warm days, blue skies and seas, fine food and total relaxation.

I thought this might be a good submission for the "Deep Blue" theme today!

Shot in RAW and converted and edited in PSE6.

Colours here are good and composition is ok, although the horizon could be higher in the frame to take advantage of rule-of-thirds, and personally I find the orphaned tree-branch overhead is a diversion to the shot, it would feel more complete if we could also see the tree's trunk, thereby connecting the branch to the ground. :)

Hi John,

I like the view out to sea the choppy water is very lifelike and the shadow of the tree are a nice touch the details are perfect imo and the colours very good well done.

Regards
Jon

Hello, John,
I find I am not overly concerned with too many rules..:)) What I found eyecatching was the wonderful contrast in the warm colored rocks and that blue Spanish water. The lighting is beautiful and the water is just the color I remember it being. I especially like the light and shadow play and I think those wispy leaves fill in nicely in the sky and the eye is naturally drawn to that amazing water. No wonder it must be so appealing to recall. Many thanks and kindest wishes,
Shelly

Hello John,

How good to see your posts again!
This is so well captured with its play of light and shade on the water and the rocks.
I have rarely seen a shot with so much movement in the water; I swear I can see it surging into the narrow channel which is carefully opositioned on a diagonal from the b/l/h corner.

Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hello John, you have managed to convey the feeling of movement as we look at the sea; the blue green colour is beautiful.
I am fascinated to know just what the building with the gridded door was used for,do you know?
Tfs, regards Jean.
