The Beauty of Failure / The Failure of Beauty

La Belleza del Fracaso / El Fracaso de la Belleza

Temporary exhibition in Foundation Joan Miro in Montjuich Barcelona

This exhibition does not not celebrate art in its pure state. Since artists were set free – after the French Revolution and the German Romantic Movement of the late 18th and early 19th centuries – they had to be God. And the same applies to all the claims of utopias that failed to materialise. The exhibition attempts to visualise this dilemma under several headings.

This photo was taken in Room 12 (the last one) : Hell without artists by Toumin and the failure of beauty using Michael Jackson as an example.

The Lesson : Listen to yourselves, your bodies and the artists.

Sylive,

For me this is not only has interesting content (the exhibit itself, and in particular the quote) but also reminds me of the wonderful feeling of going to a really good exhibit at a gallery (large or small, government-funded or private). It's not your most "artistic" photo, but it evokes the artistic spirit that you obviously have yourself and value in others.

My personal favourite show, by the way (so far at least; you never know what will come along later) was one called Ultrabaroque, which focused on what it called "post-Latin American" art. Some utterly FANTASTIC artists, from scultptors to painters and photographers. You can find a small web page here, and please notice that there's a link at the bottom where you can buy the program from the show. Whatever they're charging for it now, it's worth it. And pretty well anyone who was part of this show is well worth checking out.

Regards,
Lee
