The thoughts are ornamentales hybrid plants, cultivated by their showy flowers, obtained of the wild species Viola tricolor; although sometimes the Viola flame tricolor hortensis, strictly speaking the correct scientific name for the hybrids is Viola x wittrockiana. They belong to the sort of the violets, within the family of the violáceas.
