[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is another small experiment in extracting "something" from practically "nothing". I post the original as workshop as usual. The point here was that I liked the composition and the two birds that came looking at us as we had our lunch by the Mediterranean yesterday. But I didn't much like the result of a typical point and shoot photo with a subject in shadow in front and too much backlight to have a proper balance.

So after rotating to get the horizon straight and cropping to remove an abundance of sky and fence I had what you see in the workshop.

After that I clarified and sharpened for starters. The Edge Preserving Smooth tool is nice for creating a hazy paintlike impression, the fill flash effect helps to add a bit of light on the dark subjects in the front, I adjusted the color balance to make it warmer, sharpened another notch, and finally I added a sunburst in the sky to add a bit of interest to the background. The frame came last.

The two birds are a good catch Per, and I like the railing, the sand and the sea, but I don't care much for the 'sun'. I tried a rough workshop and I managed to use the Shadows/Highlights tool to lighten up the birds a little and to cover the sun up, but it was difficult and I didn't have a lot of time to make it better, but just to give an idea.
It is a nice composition and well seen.

Per another masterpiece, I always think of sparrows as 'spiritual' birds, this pair is particularly nice, I like the composition very much, well done!

Very artistic, whith a perfect portrait in front of a dream landscape.

Per, I love these two sparrows, but I think the sunburst is too much and too obvious. You should have added a bit of reflection on the water to add to its credibility ;o). TFS.
