[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On Tenerife they call this The Finger of God, and to anyone who has ever visited the island it is a wellknown symbol, to be found in the middle of the national park around the volcano El Teide that you also see in the background. The National Park is in fact an enormous crater 2000 meters above sea level and El Teide that rises 3712 meters above sea level is the only still active volcano. A walk in the national park is like a walk in Grand Canyon coupled with a visit to Iceland, and the entire area is an altogether mystical and unique place. And it gets quite cold in spite of being so far south because of the altitude.

The air is very clear, so photographers have it easy and this shot was only resized and very slightly enhanced before uploading.

Hi Per,
This is really crystal clear and the sharpness is excellent. I like your composition with the position of the finger and the mountain in the background which create a nice dimension in the photo with superb colors. TFS

Hi Per,

Which finger?
Excellent shot and well done on the composition and details.

Mike

I am drawn to your image because it reminds me so much of a similar structure I found here, although not at all famous (it is on TE in my images under doris). God obviously has more than one finger - do you think we could find the others?

Hoi, Per.
A good shot of the "Finger".
I was there in the month of january 2003 with high temperatures on the southside of the island.
However, when I went into the mountains, I was sent back because of heavy snowfall.
Sent back by a Landrover with a snowman in the back.

About the finger: by the latest storm, about a week ago, the finger has crashed down.
A loss to the island and tourism.
I'm glad to have your picture of it and my own, of course.
Groet,
Joop.

Beautifully captured, Per... Two interesting subjects in one shot can be tricky, but here it works IMO. I like the shadow on the 'finger', I can see a mask or even a face in it.
Nice colours too.
I notice some jaggies in El Teide's right flank (left on the photo) and in the finger too. Did you downsize too abruptly ?
Anyway, TFS.

Great work. Good composition. Which finger?

Lovely nature shot Per. The sharpness is amazing, and I like the point of view you chose. I see the sky was very cooperative with lots of interesting clouds.

excellent POV and comp Per :)
awsome colors and details

Great view.

Congrats.

Good perspective and nice clear, deep colors.
I see a face with a beard in it (lower left part) and I would like to hope that this is not someones finger. There can't be a carpenter among the future relatives then...
See you again, Richard

Great shot Per !
I find it hard to believe you only use f5.6, everything is very sharp and you have a nice hyperfocal effect going in this shot !
Very nice.
