[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi everyone,
Advertised as the Nordic Stonehenge , Ales Stenar has all the mystery of England's monument and none of the money-grabbing greed. This gorgeous place is totally free ! This is Sweden's largest stone ship setting and it's an intriguing attraction .The 67 m long oval of stones placed in the shape of a boat was probably constructed around AD 600. Why, no-one knows. Limited excavations have revealed no body ,possibly this wasn't a grave but a ritual site with built-in solar calendar (the 'stem' and 'stern' stones point towards the midsummer sunset and midwinter sunrise ).
Believe it, i had this place to myself one evening of September. One of those moments one would never ever want to end ! 1/60 ,f/3.2 PP includes the addition of a Cokin warm filter for a bit more ambiance ,levels adjustment ,sharpening ,complementary frame .

Bonjour Carol,
C'est rare de voir Stonehenge sous une si chaude atmosphère. Habituellement, les photos qu'on en fait sont plutôt froides et austères. Tout le contraire avec celle-ci!
J'aime ta composition, où les stèles ressemblent à des personnages réunis pour la prière du soir! Bravo! Annie

What a lovely place. I totally agree with you, this is much better than the Stonehenge in UK without the crowds. Lovely sky.

A lesson learnt for today, I didn't realise there was anything like the more famous English version. I like the way you've shown them the subtle shades of the sunset creates a nice mood.

What a beauty this is! Fantastic evening light. The color in the sky, and the way the sun hits the sides of those huge stones is really beautiful. Nice to see the warm earthy tones in the stones too, and the green of the grass .. still not too dark to see the grass!!
