[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I just hate when you can't decide if you like the black&white or the colour version better. This was absolutely the case with this image. I feel that the bws are often very appropriate for abstract work because one focuses more on shapes and the relationship between shapes, while the colour versions catch the eye more and can bring another dimension to the image. Ideas on this topic are welcome.

I shot this at the state library of my home town Växjö. I must say that I really enjoy working on abstract photography in public. You get unease looks concerned conversations just about everywhere you go. =)

Would really love to hear some thoughts on the low-key texture. Does it contribute to the main idea or is it just a distraction?

Thanks for your time!

I think this is excellent abstract work, Johan. It is pleasing to my eyes, what striked me first was the shapes and the way they are arranged in the image, and then the colors. There you have your 2 dimensions you were talking about strking a viewer at the same time. Then I noticed and liked the evenness/flatness in the texture, which as you said enhances the "design" theme of your image (otherwise I think it would disrupt compositional flow). And finally, I like the break in all this relative symmetry by the pole on top, which gives this composition a bit of an 'edge', if you understand what I mean.

Cristian

Hi Johan, this is definetely perfect abstract shot. The most i like here are the tones of color. Circles look impressive with black.
Great work!
Elif
