5 min. from home - riding one handed.

This is my daughter Freja. The photo was shot while on recent holiday in Denmark. We went for a weekend to Sweden to see relatives. Freja is on her cousins 3-wheeler about 5 min. from the house we stayed in.

My Canon 40D would not turn on when we arrived in Denmark so I had my wife bring a Canon G9 from Hong Kong when she arrived a week later. This is shot with the G9 which I think is a super camera considering it's size. Only issue I find with it is that noise becomes a problem when you shoot at more than iso 200.
The G9 has a hot shoe which was one of the main reasons I decided on that model. That way I can use it with off camera flash as in this shot.

For this shot I used 3 flashes. 2 was placed behind and on each side of Freja to give a little rim light and a hint of separation from the background. I then held the 3rd flash above the camera and shot it from a low angle. All 3 flashes were bare without any modifiers.

I'm not sure about the city and state we were in. It was about 1.5 hour from Göteborg and close to a city called Bostad.

For PP I took it into Elements and did levels adjustment, a crop and sharpen.

Cheers,
Jens

Hi Jens! Love the backlighting/backflash on this cute subject. Love the sparkles on the metal it created. The low POV works well here.
TFS,
Freddie :)

Very good Jens - well exposed and thoughtful lighting. Good use of the remote flashes. I'll do some more soon to add to the strobist theme..

while viewing your photo, noticed the way the lighting reflected on the grass. and after reading your note, everything came into place with all my questions. well set-up.
compliments to you. TFS.

Hiya Jens

I like this shot, the low POV is excellent here and the detail sharp with excellent light on her face.. however.. the flash causes me some confusion as it looks like there is some sunlight behind her and while her face is lit nicely the flash reflections on the handle bars seem out of place somehow. A difficult shot to handle but still very nice work.

TFS and for joining in the theme

kind regards Helen
