Hi,

3rd in my series from my recent trip to Scandanavia, this time from Sweden. Image taken from our campsite in the Glaskogen Nature Reserve in Darlana, Sweden. The lake is StoraGla, and we spent a wonderful week, canoing and camping in this wonderful place.

The dream about a complete nature experience in a quiet and peaceful environment comes true in Gla Forest nature reserve. Gla Forest is situated on the border area between Arvika, Eda, Säffle and Årjäng in Western Värmland.

Experience the 28 000 ha sized wilderness area with winding watercourses, great and small lakes, and vast forests. Hike along any of the 300 km long trails, you can choose anything from a short morning stroll to tours that last a week. . If you go for a longer walk, you are almost guaranteed to see an elk. Hare, fox, roe, badger and lynx are also common. With some luck, you will hear the wolf howling at night. During winters rich with snow a 5 km ski track is prepared with its startingpoint in Lenungshammar.

If you enjoy canoeing, there are nice canoeing routes passing through several of the next to 80 lakes situated in the reserve, with great fishing opportunities and unique nature experiences. During cold winters the lakes are froozen and the ices in the area are excellent for skating or jigging. Try tenting in the area, spending the night under the open sky, sleeping in a windbreak or using any of the overnight cabins. Info from http://www.arvika.se/~glaskog/engram.htm

image taken just before sunset at 8.20pm, more from the wonderful sunset to follow, pp inc slight crop, +light in fg, levels, sharpen.

I love the overall mood of this image, the stillness of the air at the days end......hope you like it too,

John

Hello John
I sure love the colours here, so cool and relaxing after a day of canoeing. Details and lighting are great. The canoes and paddle are at a nice angle. Beautifully composed. Good note.

Nice!
I really like the colours, especially the yellow light on the paddles.

However, I would have preferred to cut away the bushes to make the picture cleaner. But then again, it would have been a criminal act and the land owner would not have been happy ;-)

And BTW, the lake is also in Värmland, and quite far from Dalarna.

Mats
PS I like your other pictures from your trip as well.
