[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Sailing into Stockholm these gulls put on quite a show as they competed for food thrown to them by a fellow traveller. The 1/1000sec managed to stop them but in reality it was all action as they swooped and manoeuvred but managed to avoid collisions somehow. It was difficult to find a good crop but I made this one around the bird front right which is the focal point of the shot. I tried cloning out the bird top right to avoid cutting it in half but didn't like the result so left it in.

Very nice indeed, Terry - for me, it all works here. You've frozen the action, the composition is good as the shot feels nicely balanced with good interest throughout and the exposure is ideal. The gulls stand out nicely against the sky. The "cut gull" is not a problem at all, it works well. Lovely shot!

Hello Terry,
Lovely flying gulls! I like the light falling on their spread out wings. Fantastic shot!

TFS, abhijit.

Hi Terry,

Your shot is simply magnificent. The way the birds stand out against the sky with the light coming from above gives a very powerful impact to this image. Your DOF is perfect.

Really fantastic scene! Congratulations!

Mireille

great timing and shot here.... well done on having the right settings at the right time.... cloning the other bird is not necessary since the whole scene was really more of an action scene... well done....TFS

Well captured,
the 1/1000 sec has worked well to freeze them in flight, I took some similar shots recently at 1/500sec and it wasn't so good.
The last gull is fine as he makes up the 4th one in a row - just like the ones my Mum had on her lounge wall
cheers
Jack
