Hope: tribute to Texas

Already two weeks ago Hurricane Ike hit the Area of Texas in the USA, killing many people and causing huge damage at personal property. TL member Shelbeesmom was in the middle of that demolishing storm and is still struggling with the aftermath. For her and all the others who suffered from the hurricane this special picture.

Although I'm not religious I like to post this symbol of hope; not the church tower but the flying pigeon. Took this shot in the afternoon at the Zürich Fraumünster church (Church of Our Lady) see also [Map:View]. The dove is a present for Texas and hereby I wish all the victims of hurricane Ike (also them in the Caribbean) all the best and strength to rebuild their lives!

PP-work: Slight crop, adjusted contrast, brightness and saturation. Resized and sharpened. The picture was taken with a lot of backlight. Exposure compensation: -0,5 step.

Yes, we should still be thinking and praying for those from Texas and all the areas affected by Hurricane Ike. Such devastating damage was done.

Nice thought Hans, and especially with teh DOVE of peace up above.

A gorgeous upward view Hans.
Great timing with the clouds at the top, they add some great visual interest up at the top.
Excellent choice to go verticle here.
Well done.

Impressive low POV and architecture, well framed. The flying dove over the somber church-excellent illustration of the idea...

Hello Hansie

A simplebut veryy effective and thought provoking shot here, the lone bird really makes a statement and the POV looking up is very well suited. Wonderful sky detail too.

TFS kind regards Helen

A wonderful point of view used here, Mr. GB. I like the symbolism you have used to go with your note. Love the colours and architectural details. Well done.
Warmest regards
Wanda

Hi Hans,

I like the geometry of the church and I think the perspective is interesting.

I do agree with marcocig that the colours are very blue.
Theres also more noise than in your usual crisp style.

I think you might have been better off if you had taken the shot rom the other side of the church with the sun in the back.

Cheers,
Jens

Hi Hans

I'm with You

Thanks so much Hansie! This is wonderful! Very bold and strong! The church is just a building, but the REAL power and love comes from those who reach out and help others in times of need! Alot of GOOD things are happening here, lots of people reaching out! I love the angle of this shot, you did a great job with the sky!

Hi Hans

Superb graphism and sharpness, & a nice tribute to the victims of Ike. The bird is a good focal point, & it's a good upward pov on the steeple. Tfs!
