Critiques [Translate]

Hi Tony

Good to see you posting again to Treklens, but may I make a few suggestions?

For a start - as I've mentioned before, a photographer's note would be very useful and will earn you more critiques.

Likewise you should make some critiques of other people's photos here! You don't have to be an expert, just give your opinion and they will return with visits to your photos.

Now: your photograph here. I'm sorry but it's not a good one. The best part of it is the placement of your 'horizon,' it's properly placed in the frame at 1/3rd from the bottom: good work there!

But the sky is very washed-out, which suggests that you might need to try a few variations with different exposures. (Just point the camera at a brighter part of the scene and half-press the shutter, before re-composing your shot: the camera should automatically choose a quicker shutter speed.)

The cropped-off tree tops are also a problem, we 'expect' to see trees with branches and leaves at the top; the way it is cropped here makes it feel incomplete. Either take a wider shot to include the tops of the trees, or try to avoid the trees altogether by zooming in between them.

Finally - good on you for rotating the photo so that the horizon is more-or-less level. But don't forget to crop the shot down so that we don't see the 'rotated' edges!

Keep shooting, mate!
