Part of a sculpture/fountain/sundial I came across in one of Lausanne's many lakefront parks. It depicts the "Three Wise Monkeys" in their poses illustrating the maxim "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil."
From Wikipedia:
"The three wise monkeys are a pictorial maxim. Together they embody the proverbial principle to "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil". The three monkeys are Mizaru, covering his eyes, who sees no evil; Kikazaru, covering his ears, who hears no evil; and Iwazaru, covering his mouth, who speaks no evil. The source that popularized this pictorial maxim is a 17th century carving over a door of the famous Tōshō-gū shrine in Nikkō, Japan. The maxim, however, probably originally came to Japan with a Tendai-Buddhist legend, possibly from India via China in the 8th century (Yamato Period)." |

I like this shot! It brings a smile and a reminder of the wisdom it portrays. I do find the spots in the background a bit distracting (at first I thought they were dust particles or other debris) so it might be helpful to clone them out. The light and details are terrific and your composition makes the best of them. Good one:)
