[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Sorry for the title's reference to the "Planet of the Apes" movies; there is no real connection here. I saw these monkeys cringing in awe and the image of the Lawgiver just popped into my head. Those of you who are fans of the films may recall that the Lawgiver is an orangutan which first appears as a stone statue, so maybe that helped me make the association.

In fact, what you see here is part of a sculpture/fountain/sundial I came across in one of Lausanne's many lakefront parks. The center portion of the sculpture (not shown here) depicts the "Three Wise Monkeys" in their classic poses illustrating the maxim "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil." On either side of the three central figures are groups of monkeys who gaze upon the three wise ones with a mixture of fear and curiosity. Here you see one of the two flanking groups.

Interesting shot, and the more I look the more I enjoy the subject and the choice of black & white. The light and contrasts are terrific, and the focus is crisp, making this a pleasure to view closely. The faces and poses are meaningful to consider, and the details enrich their impression. Excellent!

Hi Sandy..nicely composed shot..great black tones and details. Nice work.

Roger
