Photographs - particularly those limited to an 800 pixel width - can struggle to capture a sense of scale.

Here I think you've made a great start. The inclusion of the people in the frame - well placed, by the way - creates an idea of how many metres wide our field of view is at that distance.

One of the problems with a wide lens like this though is that it still doesn't really reveal the vastness of the scene beyond. Now, if you could just arrange for a friend to stand at the very top of that mountain ridge in the distance and wave his arms ....?

Truly though, your capture here does command more than the usual few seconds' glance. Nice job too with the underexposing to capture deeper colours.

Hi Erik,

Great landscape shot, taken from a good POV. The hikers are well placed using the rule of thirds and add both interest and sense of scale to the composition. Your "in camera" work paid off well, TFS.

Quel paysage grandiose! Le titre ne peut être plus approprié!
Les montagnes sont réellement impressionnantes! L'inclusion de ces deux courageux marcheurs est un plus à ta composition nous donnant une juste idée de la grandeur de cet environnement.
Excellente idée, la sous-exposition, le rendu des couleurs en fait foi!

Onderbelichting wérkt in landschapsfoto's zoals dit, Erik, dat heb je goed gezien. Bekijk de foto's in NGM maar eens... bijna allemaal onderbelicht, zelfs portretfoto's. Pre-processing is vaak ook beter dan post-processing, je moet er alleen de tijd voor nemen/hebben.
Mooi landschap, goeie compo en vooral een uitstekende scherpte overal in beeld.

impressionnant, bien vu de prendre des personnes en prelmier plan pour montrer la grandeur de la montagne
mon imagination va encore bon train et je vois: un dragon a la geule ouverte qui fend la montagne pour avaler cs humain qui courent pour leurs vie.....( je sais je sais!!!!)

Joli paysage sous un ciel idéal pour le photographe.Bonne netteté aussi jusqu'au dernier plan "malgré" si j'ose dire, l'emploi d'un grand angulaire additionnel.Au final une belle photo aux jolies couleurs justement contrastées et où l'élément humain donne l'échelle

Bonjour Erik,
J'aime aussi me balader en montagne et en ce moment ta photo m'inspire grandement ,les moments passés ou à venir enfin ça active les cellules de mon cerveau , ah ah , voilà un paysage tout à fait suisse ,il s'agissait ici de croquer la scène telle qu'elle se présentait , un endroit parfait ne se modifie pas ou très peu en pp , de toute manière tu ne pouvais difficilement manqué ton coup , c'est tout simplement magnifique! Un peu de sous-exposition et le vert est plus vert , le ciel plus bleu , les couleurs des petites fleurs sauvages ne s'en portent que mieux, les ombres plus nettes , bref Erik il n'en fallait pas plus pour en faire un petit chef-d'oeuvre , bravo pour la prise qui est assez récente je vois, hum ,bon il faut bien que je trouve quelque chose avant de quitter cette image , j'aurais peut-être permis aux marcheurs de venir un peu plus près de l'objectif mais ici ils donnent bien l'idée de grandeur du site alors c'est correct tout autant ,

Zou dit infeite moeten posten als " comment " want ...
Nu ja.
Denk dat het een goeie reflex was om een beetje te onderbelichten
( heb ik niet : pfff ik trek maar ... hihi )
de kleuren komen er mooi uit

Foto laat inderdaad zien hoe nietig een mens is.
Laat hier geen mensen zien en je verliest de verhoudingen.
" Hij is ziek ... hij vindt de foto goed zonder opmerkingen ... "
Daarom :-)
Foto heeft een enorm lijnenspel en contrasten ( IMO )
denk dat ze in B/W ook mooi zou wezen :
misschien niet gewoon omzetten naar B/W maar beetje extreem benadrukken.

Je ziet hoe ik, op slinkse wijze, toch m'n ei kan leggen hé
