The quite soft focus, the grain and the strong contrasts, generating a "splash" of shadow around the lamp, enhance the general esoteric feel.

an excellent conceptual photo. a good plan target pp work. the noisy picture shows Dream as well. I also added an empty space above her hed as a workshop. i wanted to show how much her dreams are empty. hope you like it

The colour version must look good as well, I like the BW though. The lighting has lit up the subjects face well and the deep blacks work very well.

Too long time I didn't visit your gallery! To correct this situation, I added your page in my fav! :)
Superb B&W portrait rendering so well the mood of awake dreams! What grabs me, here, is the ambience,like the shadow and light we can see on the old Masters paintings!
Did you add the grain, or is it due at the B&W conversion?
The composition is an effective study with thirds rules.

Without fail your work is inspiration - everything you do seems precisely controlled, exactly as and how you wanted it. Positioning of face and lamp are perfect in this shot, the distribution of light and shadow through the shot are great. The graininess works well and the framing is exquisitely done.
