| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The monumental sculpture of the "Motherland" ("Родина-Мать"), built by Yevgeny Vuchetich stands 62 meters tall upon the museum building with the overall structure measuring 102 m and weighing 530 tons. The sword in the statue's right hand is 16m long weighing 9 tons, with the left hand holding up a 13m by 8m shield with the Coat of arms of the Soviet Union. The Memorial hall of the Museum displays marble plaques with carved names of more than 11,600 soldiers and over 200 workers of the home-front honored during the war with the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union and the Hero of Socialist Labor. On the hill beneath the museum, the traditional flower shows are held.
Motherland Monument (Rodina Mat) & Museum of the Great Patriotic War
Known locally as ‘Brezhnev’s Daughter’ the Motherland Monument is a giant titanium statue that celebrates the Soviet Union's victory over the Nazi Germany. 62m high and visible from various points around Kiev, it is the city’s most distinctive feature.
The Museum of the Great Patriotic War lies at its base and honours the Ukrainian soldiers that defended Kiev during World War II.

Kiev (Ukrainian: Київ - Kyiv) is capital and largest city of Ukraine with - officially - over 3.5 million inhabitants (inofficially the number is closer to 6.0 million inhabitants). The city is located in north central Ukraine on the Dnipro river.
Ukrainians are understandably very proud of their capital's role in establishing European civilisation in Eastern Europe.
Kiev is one of the oldest cities in Eastern Europe, its official history dating back to the 5th century, although settlement on this location was present since much earlier. By late 9th century Kiev became the chef-lieu of the emerging state of the Eastern Slavic tribes, and between the 10th and early 13th century, it reached its golden age as the capital of the first Ukrainian state known today as Kievan Rus, (Kyivan Ruthenia, or Rus-Ukraine), which predated modern Ukraine, Belarus and Russia.
In the middle of the 13th century Kievan Rus was overrun by the Mongols, and later this century Kiev became part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and later the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. In 1654 Kiev was liberated from the commonwealth by Cossack Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky, who then promptly signed the city over to ebecome a protectorate of Russia.
In 1775 it was completely annexed by the Russian Empire. The city remained under Russian rule, with brief, but uncertain, periods of independence in between 1918 and 1920. During these two centuries, Kiev experienced growing Russification and Russian immigration. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, Kiev became the capital of independent Ukraine and is now quickly learning the role of a large European capital. |

Si il seppia, a mio parere ci sta proprio bene. Bella prospettiva e anche profondità data dagli alberi sullo sfondo.

Oh! That's in my native town! I saw it a thousand times :))))
Yeah, it really is big and you managed really good to transfer its height into the photo! Very well done! I like the sky too... maybe I would make it sharper and add some midtone contrast to underline the majestic character of the monument :)
I added a workshop of your photo to show which adjustments I mean :) Hope you don't mind...
Kindly,
Eleanne
