This was taken at the school music festival as a young boy performed for the panel of scary looking judges! Kids seem to be so confident these days and very relaxed 'In The Spotlight'.

Excellent exposure and a very interesting composition

Good lighting on this one. Normally it is wrong to have light objects at the sides of pictures as they tend to draw the eye out of the picture but here the shadow on the paper is enough to prevent this problem as the paper doesn't get white until near the centre of the pic. Angle makes for a dynamic pic also.

Good POV. Good angle, producing diagonals. Good tight crop - we need see no more.
Small! Make bigger! Problem?

Hi! Caroline,
It was the framing that caught my eye here and for this subject matter I expected to see the long grand piano top fitting into this frame. I nstead I see a vertical composition shot falling over too much. The image is excelent, content wise but in an alien setting. I have rotated this in the vertical mode and it looks so good when corrected perspective wise. Framing is great too TFS.

Hi Caroline,

Good election of b&w for this compo. Perfect sharpness and well worked, very clean photo,

tfs,

ferran

Another great one from you, Caroline. How did you get so close to him ? Did you zoom in all the way ? My son performed for 500 people the first time when he was 3.5 years old. I think I had more nerves than he did ! I think it is good for them to learn how to face a crowd early, although I was apprehensive when the teacher asked it.

Love those little hands on that keyboard, great b/w too.

Marleen
