| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I know there must be a thousand pictures of roses on this site, but I recently re-discovered this one and did some work on it. Originally I had just cloned out a leaf in the background, but then I got a new screen for my laptop which is much better quality and allowed me to see that the cloning was actually really badly done! Therefore I ultimately selected all the empty space and lowered the brightness down to its lowest point.
Hope you like. I know it's nothing special, but I think it's the first flower shot I've ever been really proud of.
NB Just wanted to mention something following Janice's critique (thank you Janice by the way :). In a shot like this I often like to have a lot of space around the subject. I don't know why, it's just one of those things that I find attractive! |

Yes Chris, there are lots of roses, but they are worth showing! This looks good, but I think you could have cropped off more from the top of the pic. Still, it's a beauty and well shown.
I have a similar one growing in my garden - called Freesia.
I thank you for your tip about the BG. I'm slowly learning how to fix problems and the easier the better for me.
TFS,
Janice
Hello Chris!
You are absolutely right !!!! They are plenty roses posted on TL. But I do not mind at all ! As long as the works are worthed publishing, I have nothing against that. This one is certainly a very good post.
Great composition with this empty space on top. Great natural colors.
Robert :) will follow
PS. I do not read comments from fellow members before I write mines, for sake of impartiality. But I must say here , I just looked at what Janice wrote after I signed , and before I ADD....
.... and almost fell off my chair .... LOL ! .
Thanks Janice ! We are two to love roses ! (^_^)
The space works quit well for this picture since it turns your attention to the color of the flower. well it does with me :D. Another great shot.

Mohamed
