[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
"Playing around" with the Canon 60mm macro lens that technically, I am still yet to use to it's full potential.

Soon after watering the garden, I tried my hand at getting in real close using the 1-1 ratio magnification on a few beads of water clinging onto the leaf using nothing but surface tension.

I found it VERY difficult to use handheld.
Critical focusing was virtually impossible at such short distance / magnification combination. I almost got dizzy trying to hold myself steady and holding my breath whilst moving the camera back and forth trying to get the focus correct. You can't use the focus ring itself on 1-1, but have to move the entire camera.

Autofocus goes out of the window on 1-1 and suppose a tripod is a must for enthusiastic macro users.

Got to admit, I'm really impressed with the lens in general, but like i say, it's still to be used for what it was originally intended.
Maybe I'm just too old now to get down, dirty, and real close.

Shot uploaded as taken. no cropping, no tweaks.

The star-bursted droplet on the extreme right was by chance and not method!

Hope you like it

Cheers,

Martin

ciao Martin..
simply shining and full of delicacy! great macro.. thanks
ciao Marco

This is very well done. You've put the selective focus, right where the attention should be. Good exposure, colors and tones.
This is good.

clear, sharp, precise focus.I can make out the difficulty with which you might have taken this snap. But it is worth it.TFS

Très jolie réalisation macro. ces petites gouttes sont du plus bel effet. J'aurais peut-être utilisé un format plus panoramique en coupant le bas de l'image?
Amicalement

hello Martin,
Your 60mm macro has helped you to achieve a really nice picture here.I like the crystal clear water droplets and the soft greenness. You will know that this lens can be used for portraits too. The photo I took of my grnadson was taken with this lens. I should have mentioned this in my notes. Like you, I have not yet explored its full potential but hope to do so over the coming months.
best regards,
Bev

Hi Martin
You are right about tripod or mayve monopod for this type of pictures.
Well managed sharpness here and interesting shot from 60mm macro lens by canon.
I like deep of focus here as well.
