Tigermoth at take off

Captured this wonderful bird at the Duxfor Flying Legends Air Show summer 2008. Just a cheerful image of this nice little old plane with the Cambridgeshire landscape in the background. Focused on the aircraft so the background has some motion blur. With a focal lenght of 300mm a lower shuttertime, to create more motion blur is quite difficult. The object (aircraft) wouldn't be sharp due camera/lens movement.

PP work: Slight crop, removed with clone tool some nasty object in front and behind the moth, ajusted levels, resized and sharpened and add frame.

Hi Hans,
Great exposition of this classic aircraft. You managed to capture the subject sharp, and I think there's nothing wrong the the motion blur in the background. With this focus you 'froze' the plane very well. What feeling it would be to fly with a Tigermoth! :)
TFS,
Greetings,
Kristof

Good morning Hansie

I see we both went into flight mode with our postings today then ;-)

nice sharp shot here with good stop action and well balanced within the frame.
Excellent notes as ever.

TFS regards Smurfie

Hello Hansie,

Very fine shot of this Tigermoth.
The plane is nicely sharp and the slight motion blur in the b/g gives the plane the impression of moving. In fact, the plane against a land b/g is so much more interesting than against the sky.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Hans - nice shot of the Moth.. I know that it's difficult to pan with a longer focal length but this looks good.
The square format is very unusual in aviation photography but the background fits the subject well.. It could be 1930's England.
Cheers
David

Hi Hans.
What a wonderful aeroplane. I like the panning and motion blur here. Very pleasant b/g too.

Anneke

You did a great job of capturing the place nice and sharp, while it's moving! Nice work on this Hansie! Excellent shot, I assume you were moving with the plane as it went! It takes a steady hand to do this!

Hi Hans,
This is the aircraft I first saw as a boy, and Have since spent a lifetime being fascinated by aviation.
You captured it very well, the propellor is nicely blurred.
Interesting to see the top of the rudder outline flattened by the dope overshrinking the fabric. Also the distorted trailing edge of the upper left wing.
I'm looking forward to meeting you in December.
Cheers,
Pete.

Hoi Hans.
Perfect sharp picture.
It looks it is hanging on unvisuble threats.
The blur of the background is just enough to see you made a good move with the camera.
Bravo.
Jan

Hello Hans.

Excellent image, nice composition and colors.

Regards.
Jose Luis.

Going back in time?
Nice shot!
I prefer modern jet fighters but this one is exceptional, especially the way you've captured it.
Very dynamic.

Thomas

Great sharp details in the plane and superb smooth colours. Very good panning technique to capture this moment.
Thanks for sharing

Hi Hans. Well panned to get the plane sharp and the background a little blurred. One of the world's greatest looking aircraft. Looks ideal for training with two men as shown. I have always wondered why if just one pilot, he sits in the back seat? Happy travels in 2009 and beyond. Murray.
