F86 Sabre
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Without a doubt this F86 Sabre was the most difficult plane to shoot on the day of the event, purely due to the contrast of the jet against the washed out sky.
This particular beauty was taken at the Duxford air-show in 07.
We were lucky to see it fly due to the inclement weather program, but fly it did, and am i glad that it did.
Hard to believe that its first test flight was only 2 years after the second world war, and entered service into the US military in 1949.
The North American F-86 Sabre was the main US fighter during the Korean War where they were regularly engaged in combat with North Korean MiG 15s
Here i've caught it just after take off, and the nose wheel gear doors can be seen just before they shut.
Not long now before the 09 air-show season starts.
Who knows, i might even get a plane in blue sky uploaded this year.
I had my 2x convertor attached to my 70-200mm and this was taken at 300mm
Handheld, panning shot in aperture priority.
Empty space cropped from rear of plane.
Resized for upload

I think you did a great job of capturing this plane in flight considering the conditions. The detail is still very good with the TC. TFS
My dad owns one like that.
...a miniature model, that is :-}
I'm very fond of planes. Good sharpness. I suppose it's easier to capture them with your gear (I have a 18-135mm, not enough zoom to capture planes the way I'd like to). Would like to hear the sound that accompanied this shot :-)
