Continuing the Warbird theme, another upload of the classic Spitfire, this time topside, giving us all a look at the unmistakable elliptical wing profile.

Taken during the Duxford Warbirds airshow. I singled out this plane from a group of around 18 aircraft. It came in from the far right of the airfield, and was the only plane of the group showing us the topside. I just tracked and panned, hoping it would fly past the crowd line for us all to get a good view of the upper side before leveling out or turning away from the crowd due to the flight line limitaitons.

As you can see, I got my wish.

Similar settings to previous Duxford uploads, but polarizing filter removed due to poor light for this one as i also had my 2xTC attached which was resulting in an impossible shutter speed to hand hold with 400mm (1/60)

Again, aperture priority with a relative slow shutter speed considering focal length.

Hand held, panned.

Slight crop, then typical USM/resize for upload.

Hope you like it.

You got her at one of her sexiest angels. The minimal PP made the picture avoid an artificial look.

Hi Mitch,
Crisp clear Spit! Enough room to fly in. Excellent sharpness while still keeping the motion blur of the prop. Great posting!

Hi Mitch,
You got a beautiful image here, the focus is brilliant as is the position in the frame, nice PoV of the topside and an excellent picture with the slow shutter panning.

Hi Martin,

Great shot of the spitfire banking as he is shows it of at its best the roar of the rollsroyce merlin engine would have been breathtaking. Good pov nice colours and sharp details well done.

Jon

Hello,
Wow! Magnificent shot of that legendary aircraft.
Perfect sharpness, lovely colours and a lot space to fly.

Have a good WE!

Great capture of this Spitfire in flight - good POV, very good placement in the frame with "room to fly" ahead of the aircraft.

Personally I would suggest going a little gentler on the sharpening - there is some ghosting along the edges of the plane that could be minimised without losing detail or resolution.

wow, martin again a wonderful breath taking pic of world's 2nd greatest ever fighter plane.
excellent POV. wish to see ur whole collection in just one click :)

I really like this shot, its sharp, and has the space in front of the spitfire that I did not put into my shot, Rotor blur dust adds to a great shot and good composition.

Hello Martin
I have enjoyed your aircraft pictures - and this one shows us an unusual angle. The placement of the aircraft in the frame and the prop blur give this a real sense of movement, and certainly shows off your skill in panning!
Regards, Leslie

Great pov Martin, pity that the sky was gray, nevertheless it is an excellent photo of this beauty, thanks
