The Curtis P40, in different livery to the image i last posted on www.treklens.com/viewphotos.php?l=3&p=512670

Again, taken at the Duxford Warbirds airshow a few weeks ago.
This example of the plane is just after take off, in an attempt to catch up with the several other aircraft to participate in a mass fly past.
You can see the under carriage is just about fully retracted.

A brief history was given in my upload of the last image.

I managed to get relatively close to the take off line for this one, so lost the need for the 2xTC.
This gave me an opportunity to re-fit the polarizing filter and stop down to increase the depth of field, at the same time reducing the shutter speed to allow for prop blur but still allowing me to hand hold and pan.

Exif data shows speed/aperture etc.

I was really lucky with the frame filler for this one, so no cropping needed, but typically, USM and resized for upload.

Only a few more of the Duxford series to go before i move onto the Fairford uploads.
Aircraft fans may like them, but not so sure about the rest of the audience :-)

Cheers guys, thanks for all the really good comments on prior uploads of the event

Martin

Terrific machine and, I have to say, this is pretty much a perfect capture. I can't think of how it might be improved - it's sharp, clear, clean, timing was spot-on and shutter speed was just right to catch that spinning propeller. If anything, a touch more space on the left and less on the right - gasp! centralising it! - might improve the comp in my opinion?

Hi Martin,

Excellent work. The plane and pilot are perfectly sharp, while the prop has a nice blur. Your panning worked nicely with the clouds as well. TFS
