Grus Vipio - White naped crane.

Both grus and vipio are Latin, meaning a crane. In the summer, White-naped Cranes live in pairs on the wetlands of China, Russia and Mongolia. They migrate to South China, Japan and Korea for the winter. Here they are found in small groups on rice paddies and mudflats. Males tend to be larger than females and their calls are different. Two eggs are laid, which hatch after 30 days. Both parents help in incubation and rearing. They dig for grass tubers and also eat seeds, grain, insects, worms and small aquatic animals.
No pp except cropped slightly.

BG is perfect..

Good capture, Lesley, with great light on the bird. Maybe a little too centered composition; I would have preferred to have a bit more space on the right to give him some space to breath. Otherwise, good choice of DOF and great sharpness. Well done!

Lovely details and nice light here. Great POV

Happy New Year

Karan

A very good portrait of this baby delivering bird
I like the natural light on the bird

Hi Lesley
Superb shot. Very good detail in the feathers of this crane. It is often difficult to acheive this with white. The background is good. Well Done. TFS
