Blue-throated Macaw (Ara glaucogularis.
The scientific name refers to their blue throats. 'Ara' means strong; 'glauco' means bluish-green; and 'gul' means throat. Male and female Blue-throated Macaws look the same. Blue-throated Macaws are found only in north-central Bolivia. They travel in pairs, but will occasionally form small groups.

They nest in tree holes, laying 1 - 3 eggs. They feed on seeds, nuts and fruit. The Blue-throated Macaw was only discovered in the late 1970s and is one of the world's rarest parrots.
