Hello everyone, another folly but this time from the grounds of Lanhydrock in Cornwall.
When you enter through the normal size door you find yourself in one large room, even though from the outside it looks as if there is an upstairs!

The question is ....Why would you build a thatched cottage that no-one is going to live in?

Maybe as in the case of lots of follies, it is to show how rich you are,or it is a talking point, or it could be somewhere for the children to play.Sorry I do not know the answer.

The definition of a folly is an ornate building; a type of foolishness.I leave you to decide.

Thanks for looking, and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Andy and David have mentioned the tight crop to this picture. The reason being that this was as far away as I could get from the cottage, my back was right up against the shrubbery!

Hi Jean,
Nice shot, we intend to visit Lanhydrock sometime so I will have to take a look at this one, I like the POV here but I think the crop is a little tight, Just My Opinion.
Regards Andy

Perhaps tightly cropped to remove some grey skies? Lovely colour and detail Jean and wonderful terxtures in the old walls. TFS,
David

Another really beautiful picture from your corner of the world!! I love this place and the greenery all around. Really cozy!! TFS and have a great day!

Wonderful!! I love this type of garden work, my fear is always that the vines will crawl into the stonework and crack it....but it's so gorgeous! Really a beautiful shot Jean!

A nice impression, complemented by an interesting note. I did not know the addidional meaning of 'folly'. Your image suggests that it must be quite cozy inside. TFS! - Cordelia :))
