OK no text on this one due to popular demand :)

These are the Copper mines in Coppermine valley ~ Coniston. In amongst the remnants of industrial desolation, I found the shapes reminded me of a Japanese temple.

BRAVO! For a long time I didn't see so beautyful photo with this kind of subject here on TL.
Great composed and toned in soft colors. The light is pleasent and not destricting. Artistic!

10/10, Chris. Perfect. Got to blow up into a large print. :) Very nice job in terms of... everything. OK, don't click the "Useful" radio button next to my comment... I... like this shot. :)) Your eye is trying to find a fixed resting spot, and the pagoda may be it, but it's skewed, so the search starts again and again, graizing the whole field until the mind's belly gets real full with visual yumminess. I don't think Holliwood's set designers could have put it better together. The (graphically) vertical cable in the middle could move a bit to the right. Maybe. Or not. ;))

Wot no title! Thought a japanese style font would be perfect : )
This is a great shot, and if it dosnt get loads of little green faces, it says more about TL than your picture.
I like the way as a viewer you start at the bottom looking down at the floor, then your eye is drawn by the wire towards the 'torii', then down the hill.
You are left wondering, how, with all that decay are the wires still 'standing' defiant against the elements.
I really like the toning treatment you have given it, gives it a timeless appeal.
This was the picture that convinced me i should get a 10-22! I'll let you know when I do anything as good.
Martin
ps did you take this off your epz p/f?

Great shot,Chris! Even though,as you already told me,you do not care about the composition, this one is very well composed. All the lines lead to the central point -the pagoda! This is a good exemple of the "V" composition! I like the sepia tones here and the clear definition of the image! Very well done! Michel

Hello Chris.
Excellent composition, choice of B/W,tone,idea and frame.
Yes it reminds the Japanese structures...but not a "pagoda" but a "torii" which is a gate to the Shinto shrines. The Pagoda is a Buddhist structure and it is usually made of 5 floors.
Anyway you have a great eye!
Regards, Francesco

well composed , lines lead us to the "pagoda" sepia color looks great , frame also, better with no lettering on frame or elsewhere.
christine.

Beautiful atmosphere due I think to your processing. The sepia toning makes all the difference. I can't fault it in any way.Titles on Frames? Most photographic clubs in the UK wont allow it-Title and Author has to be on back of prints. Of course TL is more like an online exhibition than a club competition so I suppose it doesn't hurt to display titles. But I feel a plain frame like yours works very well. So far I have put titles on mine because it seems the thing to do on TL. From now on I intend to have bland frames-after all our titles are displayed above the picture.
For your masterpiece Chris-have a 2point gong

Your reference to Japanese temple is ok. But it is the exploitation of the space which holds my attention in your photograph. The cables bring us very far. Sepia adds to the perfection! Congrat! Annie

Excellent use of wires as guidance and natural framing that lead the eye to the far horizon. Great work in sepia.

Alban

So good my eyes are bleeding.
I have read all the above and fully agree with most of it, save that my eye goes directly to the 'torii' and then wanders up and down.
No title on image is GOOD. Your title crops up in many places and is not needed on the frame, especially as it is usually a distraction.
We have discussed white frames before so I won't cover old ground.
You have exeeded the 500 points mark and I am now supposed NOT to give you any more points but, here, I will, as my giess is that you are still keen to score and the image (and you) deserves.

You are right about the temple, another fine POV from you, along with the B&W treatment it turns the shot into a piece of art.

Fab! What can I say? What can I add?
Best wishes, Simon
