Hello Everyone,

This is a small, cascading waterfall above the banks of Ullswater. Like my post yesterday, it is has to be reached by a climb up the steep hilside.

I cannot expain why we like the sound of running water, but it seems to create a sense of enjoyment in all of us.

The greens of the ferns and the grass were remarkably vivid. I have added no saturation to this shot, just sharpened and brightened a little.

I used the overborder technique to try to develop the sense of the water disappearing into the depths. I hope you feel that it has been successful.

Many thanks for your interest.
Please feel free to feedback on any aspect of the photograph. Bev :-)

Hi Beverley,

Nice waterfall shot. Humid environmental impacts (algae etc.) bring sharp contrast to your waterfall. Nicely framed and well composed. Great POV.

Thanks for sharing,

Paras Bhalla

Hi Beverley,
Fantastic lighting control in your capture that needed special attention 'cos of the shadows and shades which tend to overexpose!
But you did the right job and you chose an adequate shutter speed to depict movement in the water!
Nice artwork on the framing!
Well done,

Francis Xavier

I like your composition here Bev, good effort for holding the big N*k*n steady during the slow shutter too! Alternatively you could up the ISO and getting a faster speed..

The overframing is quite effective and a good idea - it's worked well.

Hi Beverley

Good motion blur of the cascading water, with excellent sharpness, colour & framing. Have a good weekend. The 's' shaped curve of the upper stream, adds good lead in lines. Tfs!

Hi Bev,
I really like these shots presented with the 3d out of frame look, there are some really imaginative creative shots coming from the site and yours is no exception. Great use of the shrub in the foreground, colours and composition great. TFS

Bonjour Beverly.

I like very much this realization, and as you cannot explain it: but why the sound of water appaise us??? But you know it also acts by viewing this image.

And one more in the centring: the plant in the left lower corner.

Amicalement
Valérie

Bonjour Beverley
"C'est un trou de verdure où chante une rivière,
Accrochant follement aux herbes des haillons
D'argent ; où le soleil, de la montagne fière,
Luit :c'est un petit val qui mousse de rayons."

Beverey, je suis sûr que vous comprenez Arthur Rimbaud, même en français
Superbe le cadre avec le buisson en bas pour mettre tout ça en valeur comme vous l'avez fait.
Bonne soirée
Henri

I do love the sound of rushing water! Wonderful details. I might even would have gone for a longer exposure, up to a F11 and let the shutter stay open, as it would blur the water more! Nice peaceful scene!

I really wish I could find a water fall to practice on, no such thing in my part of the country. I love the framing and of course the beautiful nature! TFS

good light and contrast,

Michel well done.

Another great waterfall photo from you, waterfalls are my favourite subject. The sound of running water certainly has a calming affect. Your point of view with the moss covered tree is great.

Hi Bev'
Nice close up on this small waterfall with good details and faithful colors,
As you wrote your opinion about my last shot which indicate you like the freezing and capturing water droplets... and I answered you that I believe it is depond on situation... here in this shot you had'not strong lighting (based on the exposure info). Here you didnot reach to freezing nor milky effect. I said "situation" means that in such cases (when there is less lighting) its better to gain milky effect because freezing is impossible. :)
Best wishes
Alireza

hi dear beverley

i read you perefer frozen drop ( you had written for alireza) but i like milky stream and i like this shot too!
