And now for something completely different.....

After two posts based on symmetry, I thought I would post this sculpture seen on a trip out yesterday.
I love to see sculptures set in gardens. This cellist was sitting in a slightly shaded part of a garden at Renishaw Hall in Derbyshire.

I would love to be able to tell you more about it but there was no information available.
I would recommend a visit to the gardens if you are ever in the area.More info. about the Hall in later posts.

Thanks for your visit.

Hello, Jean.

Very nice indeed. I find subjects like this very, very difficult. I tried a picture of a sculpture recently and found it very difficult to get the lighting right. You have done very well with this one - the exposure is spot-on.

She has a rather nice enraptured look on her face, I think. Maybe "The Swan" by Saint-Saëns?

Unfortunately, when I see a lady playing a cello, I can't help but remember a quotation of the late Sir Thomas Beecham. Beecham (he was, I believe, related to the Beecham's Pills people) was a rather controversial conductor in his day.

During a rehearsal, Beecham stopped the orchestra because a lady cellist was playing rather badly and announced to her, “Madam, you have between your legs an instrument capable of giving pleasure to thousands - and all you can do is scratch it”.

That must have been quite a thing to say in that sort of company fifty or more years ago!

Best Wishes,

John.

Too funny, Jean!
Nice lighting in this to pick up such good detail in the sculture. Beautifully composed and cropped for the best view and the colors are wonderful. Very nicely done! Thanks,
Shelly

Hi Jean
Oh so sad her bow is lost!

Nice light on this statue... I like the details on the aged ?copper? The BG is nice and does not take from your subject

Enjoy
