[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The crooked spire of Chesterfield Parish Church. The spire leans off from it's true centre by 9'6", and as it rises from the tower it also twists like a screwthread. There are a few different stories to why the spire is like this, but probably it was due to the use of soft wood ("Green wood"), the lack of skilled labour (killed by the black death) and the fact the spire has no cross-bracing to keep it straight and true.
