| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I recently received a beautiful bouquet of flowers, and never one to miss an opportunity, I decided to see what shots I could come up with.
These are the stamen of a lily. The pollen can be clearly seen.
The fascinating shapes and brilliant colours of many flowers have evolved over millions of years to make sure that tiny grains of pollen are carried from one plant to another.
Pollen grains have to travel from the anthers to the stigma for fertilization to occur and for seeds to be produced.
Some plants are able to pollinate themselves but most rely on receiving pollen from another plant of the same species. The most important pollinators are insects.Plants entice insects to their flowersby their bright colours, and by food in the form of nectar.
Anyway I hope that you like the shot, thanks for looking. |

Great experiment with DoF. Good to see the front stamen in good focus. The colours are rich and the stamen stem suggest strength somehow. TFS. K2

Hi Jean,
Excellent way to show the beauty of a flower.
aaah, those lily's are a pleasure for the eye ánd for photography. :-)
TFS,
Steven.
This one stands out because you have chose to photograph the Stamen rather than the petals. Interesting POV. I like it.
Have a good day!
