[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hello everyone, close to where we now live, is the estuary of the River Plym.Twice a day the scene here sees the tide covering these mud flats.

Men can often be seen in the centre of the flats digging for bait for their fishing.I had taken a shot of two men doing just that, but decided because of the lighting that it wasn't good enough to post!

I had considered posting this in black and white but I liked the touch of colour from the buildings across the river.
The houses and woodland are all a part of the Saltram estate, a property now owned by the National Trust.Well worth a visit if you are ever in the area.

Many types of wading birds can be seen particularly at low tide.On this particular day, we saw curlews, egret, shelducks, cormorants, oyster catchers, mallards, red shank and many others.

Typical winter light, bright sunlight on one side and deep shadow on the other, not the easiest to contend with.

Thanks for looking.

PP:adjusted exposure and contrast, used fill light, sharpened, applied auto colour, cropped, repaired [cloned out a bit of rubbish,] and resized for posting.

Hi Jean - you certainly live in a very beautiful area! I love the composition, tranquil with endless areas of interest. The light may not have been easy, but you have dealt with it well!
My compliments,
Cerys

This is a lovely shot. I too would think of posting it in black and white, however I'm finding that a natural semi-desaturation is also interesting for the eye. It makes me look at an image longer to have my eye absorb the color, like adjusting to seeing in the dark.

Good composition, the way the foreground leads you to the waters and then the above-mentioned colored buildings in the distance.
Well done,
Jim

You must be enjoying going out and seeing the new photo opportunities in your new neighbourhood Jean.
I'm pleased you left the colours here - the colours show us more details, whereas B&W seem to hide them
I like the light from the sky reflecting in the wet mud too - and it is a well composed too,
TFS
Janice
