Hello everyone,
recently we were in Torquay for the day.We had an early start and as we walked along the promenade we saw the dark clouds gathering. The question was, were we in for a soaking?
The sun was shining and as I looked towards the sky I noticed how the balloon was reflected on the beach.

The white balloon, a HiFlyer, is situated close to Torre Abbey sands. For a fee, you can ascend to a height of 400 feet to access views across the whole bay.It does not float away, it just ascends.Hence my title.

And no, we did not get wet, although it did rain later in the day, by which time we were perusing the book stores.

Thanks for looking,enjoy your day.

Hi Jean,
This image has nice enlightment and a dramatic sky with the dark clouds. Well exposed beach shot, colours are strong and clear. Nice scee, tFS!
Greetings,
Kristof

Hello Jean,

Apart from the white ballon (quite an unusual colour...) I think the best feature of this photo are those nice ripples on the sea shore. Then you have a fine light and a good sense of depth too. Perhaps I'd have taken less sky, but anyway it's a fine composition.
All the best,
Donato

hello Jean

Shooting a stormy weather without getting wet, you do have a good way of doing it.

The dark clouds surely provide a superb backdrop, and the strong light making it even better from where you stood.

And in bookstore when it rained? You know how to avoid getting wet :)

tfs, bill

WOW! Looks like a HUGE golf ball! No way I would get in that! HAHA! I find alot of OE on the balloon, not sure how to avoid that in bright sunshine and white material! But I LOVE the water here, very beautiful, love the details. Nice work Jean!

I like this composition with this strange balloon unexpected near a beach!
The small waves (ripples) bring our eyes to this white form.
Bravo Jean!
André

Hello Jean,
there is something surreal about this iamge. The white ballon seems like a thing out of place, a moon perhaps. The light and dark clouds add to afeeling of other worldliness. The moon-ballon reflecting on the pewter water is the final elemt to this scifi posting.
best wishes for Christmas,
Bev
