Reflections of Devon

During my visit of Devon in April this year I took a strol over the golfcourse of the hotel were I stayed. The sky was full with wonderful fluffy clouds. They showed up the best in the reflection of a little pond. Indeed, the tree is quite central, the it was a small pond I didn't wan't to crop too much of it. Tell me is it disturbing?

Anyway PP work: croped the bottom, slight adjustment of the highlights. Removed a small but nasty yellow sign on the left. Resized, sharpened and add frame.

Hi Hans...
Beautiful shot...
Great composition and reflection...
Regards...
Andro

Great reflection of the clouds Hans, well captured

Hi Hans,
Perfect capture of the reflections of the single tree and the clouds on the sky. I think your cropping is not disturbing at all, I like the panoramic format and it's good you left some space above the tree for the dramatic sky. Saturation of colours is nice as well and the green golf course of Devon looks refreshing. Well done, TFS!
Greetings,
Kristof

Good morning Hans,
I'm speechless beyond such beauty!
The shape of the pond filled with such beautiful reflections is simply marvellous.

Bonjour Hans

Superbe photo où la reflexion est merveilleuse.
L'arbre central devant cette mare, l'herbe qui suit après...
Beaux contrastes et jolie vue
Amicalement

Valérie

Hi Hans

Yes the tree is very central but I can see why you did not waat to crop any of the pond.
Great reflection of the clouds and tree in the pond.
TFS

Regards Derek

Hi Hans,

Well seen and composed. I have a single-tree photo that I'm still debating on how to crop. I think your decision not to crop much is the right one with this shot. The refelections in the pond are striking.

TFS,
Werner

Hi Hans, perfectly composed and presented. Excellent work.

Hello Hans, a lovely composition, in this particular case, the centralised tree works really well.
Good colours, I like the blue sky reflected in the pond.
Well spotted.

No german this time Hansie .. it's too hard to express myself properly :)
My favorite part is the little fringe of grass at the bottom of the shot making a perfect little frame. Is the central tree disturbing me? No, not really. In fact, you could have gone all the way and tried to get it perfectly centered. Fantastic colors and of course, the reflection is great too.
Nice one my friend.

Hi Hans
Wonderful photo, very well composed, with great colours and light and specially a superb POV reminding me a Magritte painting.
Excellent. Best regards, mb

I am a BIG tree lover! This is magical Hans! The reflection is more powerful than anything here, taking up 2/3rds of the shot! The center comp works WELL here vertically as it makes the shot symmetrical somewhat! I love it!

Hi Hans,

for all those that follow "The Rules" please note they are not rules but they are good guidlines,as there are times when you will view an image, like this one, that breaks the rule of never placing a main subject in the center & it works, because the photographer knows when he can do it & when he can't . That vibrant tree & it's reflection make for a very strong image & composition,Well seen & caught Hans,
TFS

Ron

Good morning Hans,
The lonely tree is indeed a highlight, it is well positioned in the frame, the reflections are well defined and beautiful. Well done and my best regards buddy...

Hi Hans,
Not disturbing at all, I shall have to get my eyes tested as on the thumbnail I thought it was the body of an acoustic guitar! Great reflection. TFS
Bri

Hi Hans,
No disturbance from the tree's position in your compo , perhaps a little more space at the top , no big deal really , the reflection of it and the clouds is impressive indeed , the exposure is quite good throughout ,very well executed , tfs,
Carol

I'm impressed with your view on the golf course. Photos with reflections of the clouds are some of my favorites. Very nice control of your settings. A beauty for sure. TFS Julie

Hi Hans,
I like the symetry of this scene, and the fact you have little sky in the top half.
The reflected sky looks so much better, and tells us it was a beautiful day.
I would crop a little more off the bottom myself, but I like this one just as it is.
Well seen.
Pete.

The scenery is certainly gorgeous, as has been pointed out, but your composition really makes the shot for me.
Nicely done and good post work as well.
Thanks,
Wilt
