Too late?

Staying in Exeter (Devon, UK) for a few days and took the change to visit the town for a couple of hours. The weather is wonderful, clear sky, no rain :-)

Well one of the "must to see" in this town is the Cathedral. While wandering around this impresive building I noticed the vicar in a hasty trot towards the catheral door. Was he too late for the service?

Anyway, took this picture in the late afternoon while the sun was setting. Used ISO 400ASA, f/5.6 and 1/30 shutterspeed, the leaves are quite blurred due the relitave hard wind blowing and the slow shutter speed.

PP work: Reword the jpeg version (not my favorite photo program on my laptop :-(
Adjusted levels, curves and saturation. Used unsharpen mask (amount: 175%; radius 1 pixel) and flatten layers. Used perspective crop to straighten the walls. Resized and used unsharpen mask again (amount 100%; radius 0.3 pixels)

Haha, good one Hans! Perfect title.
Love the vibrant colors of the grass, and especially his bright red robe - they both stand out perfectly in the shot. I also love his obvious hurry, with his long stride and swinging arm. Very well seen, and your timing was impeccable.
Great job. Have a nice week.
Trudy

Fine attractive colors you incorporated in this composition Hans. I especially like the walking vicar in red, and this is balanced by the colors of autumn to the left. The side view of the cathedral is imposing and massive. Hope you took some interior shots of the cathedral.

Really sharp and crisp detail on the stone, nice colours too.

I agree that the red robe really adds to the composition.

Very well composed Hans, sharpness and details are great. I like the contrast of lady in red against the building and the grass. Great shot.

Goed hoor!

Hi Hans,
Very good observation well deserved by this composition!
You made me smile with the so funny title!
The height of this vicar gives a good scale of the architecture too. I love the contrast of this red cassock and the gray stony walls. With the fall colors of the tree, this composes a very interesting and powerful image!
Congratulations! Annie

hi bro.
well spotted. a great mixture of colours and textures. the priest is so small against the magnificent tree and cathedral.

you must be proud of this one?
Brian

Hi Hans,
Great combination of nature and architecture, the golden tones from the tree are particularly eye-catching. The person walking through the frame really puts everything into perspective too. Nice job with the sharpness and composition, can't see a single thing I'd change.

TFS,
Scott.

Love it! The splash of red against the greens, greys, and autumnal colours is fantastic. Well composed, beautifully sharp shot with great detail - it gives a great sense of being there.
Can't fault this one!

Hello,

toutes mes félicitations pour ce 900ème post et tu nous gâtes, une merveille, superbe image, qui allie végétation autonmale et architecture, avec le eprsonnage qui donne l'échelle et sa robe rouge, merveilleux.

Hello Hans,

How fortunate this vicar wore red! It really sets this lovely shot alight. He makes a very compelling focal point, and so well placed; then the eyes move out in stages, to the tall tree and lastly to the texturally detailed cathedral. Lovely!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)
When you say you used perspective crop, do you mean transform perspective or did you crop at an angle?

Hello Hans.
Interesting shot, ang good moment captured (walking priest).
Well composed. Interesting detalis of architecture as well.
Best Regards.

Perhaps the vicar had slept in!!!
Nice shot Hansie - the details of the leaves and brickwork all show up so well.
The tiny figure of the scurrying red-robed vicar makes the building look very impressive and large.
well captured

Hi Hans

The red robed cleric, hurrying off to Mass, is a good focal point. I like the flattened perspective from the zoom. Good sharpness, graphism & colour contrasts. Tfs!

Hoi Hans,

Het is maar goed dat hij te laat is, want nu is hij een prachtig detail in deze enorme foto! Prachtig gebouw en heel mooi gecomposeerde boom. De man geeft een hele mooie indicatie van hoe groot alles is. Hele mooie foto!

Hi Hans:)
This must be really something to see!!! you had that opportunity - must been pleasure to discover this historical place.
Scene on the picture is great!!! - he look like on the hurry even on still image. I like so much how you composed this photo and very nice colours.
Cheers my friend - Tom:)

Hoi Hans,
Groeten,
Niek

Hans,

Beautiful composition, love the vibrance of the colors.
The repeating patterns of the arches is very interesting.
Well composed and very good metering.

Hi Hans, The man in red robes is a huge plus for this image. His purposeful long stride shows he is rushing somewhere and the backdrop of this grand cathedral makes it very powerful. The tree balances the scene well. TFS. Murray.

Hi Hans,
I saw this th night you posted it...and thought 'I wish I had been there', it is a wonderful moment captured, well seen, and well composed. I love it.
Unfortunately, I had too much difficulty with my eye, I couldn't comment then.
Kia ora,
Pete.
Marilyn says Hi.

Hello Hans, once again impeccable timing; without the cleric in his red coat, the scene would have perhaps seemed a bit dull. The title says it all.
I like the contrast of the grey stone walls with the beautiful chestnut tree in its autumn colours.
Thanks for the PP details, it is always interesting to see how shots have been processed and often people do not give us their details.
Tfs, regards Jean.
