Out To Play

Cleaned,oiled and polished.
Get some 120 film, out to play
this weekend.
I like using old cameras, nice to hold, more tactile, interesting ,they worked out how to make the hinges and bellows allow the camera to fold,(it still works after 70 years),great old fashioned engineering, you can put a 6x9 format camera in your trouser pocket.
Great fun using a range finder and a light meter,(or just guess range and exposures) ,much more fun than digital point n shoot.
Old cameras don't have coated lenses, flare from the sun is a problem,no shooting into the sun, try to shield with your hand or a hood, with care these 70 year old cameras will take pictures as good as your latest mega pixel expensive digital camera.
Take great big 6x9 negatives that you can blow up poster size.
I bet you've not got many gadgets that are 70 years old and still being used today.
It's like driving a classic car, more fun than driving your comfortable new company BMW.
I'm parking up my EOS 5d for while and using film (more interesting) and helps keep the film labs open. |

Hi Dave,
They are a couple of cool cameras, and great subjects to boot.
Cheers
