The International Festival of the Sea at Portsmouth Naval Base.
Some pyrotechnics and a fly past.
This is in fact two pictures stitched together.
The war re-enactment was most impressive with Fighters, Bombers, Helicopters, Ships, Hovercraft, explosions etc.
I watched it all from the flight deck of an Air Craft Carrier. The noise was what impressed me most.
The 'Festival of the Sea' is staged every three years or so and believe me if you ever get the chance to attend, it's a must.
IFOS '05 was a vibrant and exciting celebration of the sea, bringing together sailors, musicians, artists, entertainers, ships and boats from all points of the compass. Over 20 of the world's most beautiful tall ships were present.

Weather beaten working boats were joined by more than 30 warships and naval auxiliary vessels from our own Royal Navy, the Commonwealth, NATO and visiting foreign navies.

Wow! Well done Michael!

Jesus Micheal....
What a realistic shot. This bulb of exploding matter..
The sharpness of this aircraft (Harrier??)
Great .. to bad we have the TL limmitation of the size..4x the size would do more just to this shot.. but that is not in our hands. Very impressive and good
TFS .. bye

You come up with the most amazing photographs, Michael. Another very special one ! For me it brought back bad memories of the big accident that happened at an Airshow in Oostende, Belgium a couple of years ago. Thank goodness this is just an enactment here !

A place of distruction; madness in front of the pilot; when he looks back he just dropped another one. A cloud like brains on fire.
Expressive picture Michael
Thanks

PS Many thanks for your comment on Red Hot

Hi Michael,
I am informing you that as soon as I saw this photo I had to swith off my monitor scared that all this stuff gets in here...

... it was so realistic! I don't know which element is part of which photo (would be nice to see them as separate WS photos - just a suggestion :-) ), but joined together gave shocking effect. It's like a still taken from a war movie. Very suggestive, very realistic. And very well composed. tfs

Hi Michael,

Great job you did here, very dramatic indeed! I wondered what it was from the thumbnail, good job you left a note too as I thought that the Tornado was about to end up in a pile of trouble :)

Excellent work!
