A small fishing boat leaves Portsmouth Harbour from the Camber Docks, for a days fishing on the Solent waters, it's dawn with a clear sky and light winds, perfect.
This shot was taken on the foreshore at the mouth of Portsmouth Harbour below the historic Round Tower. This area is only accessible at low tide so to be able to get there at sunrise took some advanced planning, the combination of low tide and a clear winter’s morning is not that easy to achieve in England. At this location the shipping is forced to sail close to the shore, any further along the beach and this shot would not have worked. The land in the distance is the Isle of Wight often mistaken for France by visitors to the area.

Hi Roger
Good shot of this fishing boat. Pity about the glare on the windows. Good atmosphere about the photo. I like the reflections of the sun in the water and the silhouette of the masts and net gear. Well done.
Mike

You've been careful with this shot, the composition, placement, POV - and it works well. That morning sun reflection is very harsh on the boat's windows, but I wouldn't know how to improve on that! I can almost smell the sea air in this shot. Well done!
Rew

fine image and feeling. thanks

dificult shot, but the end result is excellent. I, too, wouldn't know how to improve on this shot. Tricky lighting situation here.

Good use of the side light effect!I like the warm sunlight's reflection both on the boat and on the cool blue sea.Good shot!

Hi Roger,
That's what I thought - not your typical british (dutch) weather conditions - great sunny picture - great planning.

Hi Roger
Nice picture in a good contrast colour.
Gr Jos

Hi Roger,

A really difficult lighting situation here my friend. Even though there are a few little hot spots. The reflections are great and the bow wave is giving a good sense of movement.

Great shot of this floating workhorse

Lovely the way the sun is captured by the ship... and the way you have captured it Roger!
Funny how's it alsmost a silhouette, but then in sunshine.

Nice going!
Cheers,
Anneke

Hello Roger,
Yet another picture of a boat and once again, I like it! For its composition, its vivid colours, the harsh light reflecting in the window - in one word: for its intensity. Or, as Rewshearer put it: you can almost smell the sea air in this shot.
Thanks for sharing & have a nice day,
Erik
