A lone figure stares out across the Solent water to the Isle of Wight.
This shot was taken at Sally Port, Old Portsmouth.
The Old Sally Port is where numerous naval heroes embarked to fight their country’s battles. Catharine of Braganza landed in state May 1662 one week prior to her marriage with Charles II at the nearby church, Domus Dei.
The structure to the left is the almost derelict Victoria Pier, it was opened in 1842 and used by the Isle of Wight passenger ferries. By 1847 there was a direct rail link between Portsmouth and London, passengers were moved between Portsmouth Station and Victoria Pier for onward travel to the Isle of Wight.

Nice work! The desaturation of all but the ocean creates a unique and powerful view of this silhouette scene.
Very sharp silhouette, too, well placed within the frame; and nice use of rule-of-thirds composition with placement of your horizon and subject, with good inclusion of the diagonal element in the foreground.
All in all, good work!

Interesting scene, I really like the man's sihoueete as well as the background structure...too bad for the lower left gray corner, imo it kinda throws off the balance in the image. perhaps clone it out...

Oh Roger,
A wonderful picture, and I don't feel the need to frame it. It's perfect as it is.
Strong silhouet and thousands of little suns reflecting on the waters'surface.

Hi Roger,
I had some fun with this picture, I love the thoughtfullness of the character and the sparkling water. I also love to shoot into the sun and Probably am known for it on Trek Lens.
My interpretation of this shot is in the Workshop, hope that you find it useful.
Mick

Hello Roger,
Impressive, this sparkling water surface. Almost surrealistic. As for the composition, I think there are to much "objects" on the left side that distract from the human silhouet. Mick's (pompey) WS offers a good alternative here.

Erik

Une photo que l'on regarde et regarde et regarde...
I realy like the light on the water.
Nice contrast between that water and the silhouette.
Good work.
TFS Roger,

Dany
