[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Apologies for anyone who's bored with pictures of butterflys, but for my money they are a particular area of joy when it comes to photography: they have a wonderful range of shapes, colours and textures and represent a challenge to photograph (when they are free flying that is - not difficult to photograph a dead one!)

This is a Lime swallowtail (Papilio demoleus), which is a little bit of a strange name as unlike other swallowtail butterflys this one doesn't have a pronounced tail. Its perhaps the most widely distributed swallowtail in the world and it's range covers the middle east, pacific islands, China and India.

PP Work - crop, resize, USM (20%) and added the border.

I'm not entirely happy with the composition, but unfortunately in the original there is a metal post to the right which won't clone out nicely.

Superbe ce papillon . Les ailes ouvertes me font apprécié ses couleurs précises et jolies.. Réal.

Mark do not worry to much about the quality, we do see a lot worse ! Than.. being a little hard for yourself is a good thing; we have to keep telling ourselves it always can be better( goes for me too ) I like your buterffly, welldone

Hi Mark,

Wow!! What a co-incidence. We both found the same kind of butterflies. This one looks better than what I took. Lovely DOF and colors. TFS.
