Water dropping from a kitchen tap into large glass bowl of water placed upon a draining board.
The camera was placed upon a tripod in front of the kitchen sink. The flash was positioned on the draining board, behind the bowl to one side, and aimed away from the bowl towards a large piece of white card placed immediately behind. This gave a uniform spread of light from beneath the water adding contrast to the ripples. The flash was fired wirelessly from the camera.
The tap was initially set to "trickle", the focus was locked onto the zone of impact and then set to manual override to prevent focus "hunting" in subsequent shots. Manual exposure was selected on the body, with a shutter speed of 1/250 sec for motion capture and a small aperture of f/32 for maximum field depth. Lastly the tap was set to drip and the shot taken. |

Hi Robert,
Nice detailed notes.. I always am amazed at drop shots.. they are not easy to do imo and deserve respect.
I like the stop action and the color of your drop... Very sharp as well...
