[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a still life photograph of a celery heart, I don’t think I would have thought to shoot this heart if it hadn’t been for my two housemates bugging me to take a few pictures to brighten up the kitchen. They had just been cooking in the dull baby blue room when I spotted this part of their discarded leftovers on the worktop. I moved it onto a sheet of white paper and used natural light through a well light window however the sky was quite dull so I overcompensated with a longer exposure which also helped eliminate a lot of unwanted shadow and revealing more detail.

PP: very little post processing on this image other than the Kodak Ektachrome film style boarder which I cant take credit for myself if was a filter I picked up from a website. Slightly added some saturation to green colours in raw converter otherwise straight out of the camera.

Hi Ben,
Great macro, with good use of light. The colors and sharpness are perfect. A pity that you did not post the Exif file, because I am curious about your camera settings. The long shutter speed did help you to get the wanted result in the celery, but made the white paper too bright, which makes it claim a lot of attention. Did you think of changing the color of the wite paper in your pp work?
TFS,
Niek

Very good detail and macro, Ben!
Levely green! Nice shadows!
Good crop and composition, though, i think, i would have moved the centre a little down to the low right corner.

thanks a lot and have a nice day, Karina:)

Hello Ben.

You show this Celery at its best...light and refreshing, great shot.

Love the colour--drew me in immediately, and the border. Very creative.

Ha no idea a peace of vegetable could look this good. The overexposure works excellent, the cropping and composition of photo is spot on. i have used this overexposure technique as well in on of my shots in tl and it definitely helps when u have a crap background
