Hey Ben,
I like this for the great color of the tulip and the strange DOF.
Be carefull when doing certain selections especially around edges of such soft objects such as this tulip. Things become too hard edged and you can see the work you have done. Also watch the fringing when selecting for your about 1 or 2 pixels outside the edge of the tulip. It's like a good movie trailer or great scene in a movie.....you don't notice the edits for the flow of the imagery! Does that make sense. I know this is photography but there is the same principle.
In my opinion I would see the outside frame as also the brightest red along with the black or a nice thicker black frame for contrast. Not trying to pick on you today just wanted to give some opinions on this imagery.
Love the contrast in this image though and the nice large tulip that creates this nice composition.
