[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A view of the spire and main transcept of Norwich Cathedral, shot from inside the covered cloisters.

It's a very impressive structure, surrounded by pleasant greens and closes, and old fashioned cottage gardens.

Photographically I used a polariser on the camera, and just adjusted the levels slightly in photoshop.

I have a few other views of this that I will put up as time goes by

Beautiful contrasts Andy, and I love all the shadows and light hitting the building. The metering and exposure for this are just perfect, that was one of the first things I noticed about this picture. I also love the rich, vivid, but unprocessed-looking colors, and the photo is just so sharp and clean. Wonderful capture of converging lines of the building with the point of view you chose and I like the balance between the tower leading the eye up and down the shot and the main sections of the building running perpendicular to the tower. This is made more dynamic and also plays on the scale of the building by including the two people at the bottom. Excellent use of that dreamy blue sky with the whisps of clouds as the backdrop for the tower. The detail is great. I might recommend decentering the tower a bit more since placing objects in the center of the shot often, but of course not always, tends to disrupt any balance or flow on composition. Beautiful simple white frame, well-done!

Hi Andy,
A great view from this cathedral with a clear blue sky! Great contrast without OE superb colours. One remark, the view could be corrected in respect ob the leaning lines, which can easely be corrected by croppng the image in perspective. Nevertheless a fine posting my friend with an superb presentatin with the white frame. My picture was made in the winter and gives a total different view.
Well TFS Andy, again a nice shot from Norwich!

superb colours and truly outstanding details, Andy!
I love the PoV, especially with the perfect circles just in view in front of the building here: they provide a superb contrast to the strong verticals.
Hans is right about the converging lines and the tool in PhotoShop is quite easy to use. Drop me a line off-list and I will be happy to walk you through the steps: There's only three simple steps to the process.
