Sebastian Bourdais at the Silversotne F1 qualifying pushes the Toro Rosso to its maximum through Abbey.
Abbey, Luffield and Bridge have probably the best unrestricted views of the track, having relatively low fence lines in comparison to the rest of the track.
I was lucky enough to get a pretty good spot at Abbey with no fence line, and no real crowd to cope with to capture a few clear shots during qually.
This particular shot was handheld and panned.
I wanted a side on shot, so sacrificed depth of field for shutter speed.
I also wanted to show a sense of speed, so needed a relatively slow shutter speed for focal length used.
Using my 70-200 with 2x TC, I chose (As ever) aperture priority, f5.6@200. To compensate for the low light/aperture combination, I upped the ISO to 400.
This shot uploaded as taken, no cropping or tweaking other than the re-size for upload.
Thanks for looking

Hello Martin!
Like thousands of F1 fans you took this last opportunity to see the F1 circus at Silverstone since next year the British GP will be in Donington Park. The weather was not very cooperative this year( again (^_^) ). Fortunately it did not rain.
In the circumstances, great set up for an effective panning shot. Even the Red Bull seems to push Sebastien to go faster .
I like the various levels, grass, track, grass, sand. Simple and effective.
Cheers!

Très bonne photo avec un bon effet filé. Pas facile de prendre Bourdais en photo....avant qu'il ne s'empale sur un autre concurrent!
Amicalement
