Another shot of the hot shoeing of Nick, as you can see he is not phased by this at all even though the smell of the smoke is like burning hair, he takes it all in his stride, he is one of the most trustworthy animals I know.

I decided to crop in for a little closer look at Gary at work and I thought I would go back to B&W. Altered brightness and contrast to emphasise the smoke more and resized for TL. I will include a workshop of the original.

Hope you like it

hi bri
great photo.. i like very much the b/w. and the moment u have captured, with the smoke and all :)

Hello Brian
Excellent details of the work being done, your pp has certainly emphised the smoke - and the B&W gives this great stmosphere. I feel that Nick's jet black hair distracts me from the rest of the shot, but the lighting overall is impressive.
Regards, Les

Nice shot, Bri!
I love the B&W and the contrast is excellent. Great job of cropping with both subjects well shown, good detail even surrounded by the smoke. That is an outstanding shot! Many thanks and kindest wishes,
Shelly

What i like with b&w is that it shows excellent detail and you have achieved this in this shot ...the shoe is dominant from within that rising smoke ....nicely captured ...good work

Bill

The use of light in this shot is essential to its success - the angle of light catching the smoke - and your post work to emphasise - really makes an eyecatching and powerful image.
Well composed with all of the important details fitting well within the frame.

great shot, you have captured a great moment. fantastic work!

Hi Bri,

Had a look at the original you have in the ws good but not as impressive as the cropped b&w shot you've posted imho. The lighting is great and emphasises the smoke giving the shot a very atmospheric feel to it. The horse is calm because it has been treated well all it's life, as they should. TFS

Ciao Brian

Looking at the 3 post in the same situation,
I called attention to this detail by centralized
you gave here, the light on this wonderful
the characters and the smoke that still leaves the horseshoe
being shaped in the hot leg of the horse is great!
Good B & W is perfect and you made good use of it here!

Sergio

Wow... I love this shot Brian!!!!
It brings back the smell of the blacksmith we used to have in the village where I grew up..... that's a long time ago! hahahahahah

I really like this shot in B/W, specially the hot damps showing around the horse's shoe... Great details and a wonderful atmosphere!

Cheers,
Anneke
