Another shot in from the grounds of Southwell Minster, this time with my back the cathedral looking west. This old ruin - not sure what it was in a previous life - sits on the edge of the cemetary and looks like it might have housed the old bishop or his side-kicks in times past. Now heavily overgrown with ivy and nettles, the arch that was once a gable end, stand proud.

Another RAW image with three 2-stop intervalled images combined in HDR. A tweak of contrast and saturation and a light frame to complete the image.

Hope you like it.

Hi Dai,

An excellent hdr, very natural colours and good control in the sky areas.

Douglas

Your shot here has given these ruins the kind of mysterious aura of Angkor Wat. Beautiful tones and a good POV - the off-centre placement of the arch is perfect. Your muting of the sky through HDR creates a suitably demur ambience. Great work!

HI Dai
The vines really add to give the ruins a mood.
I would love to see this in BW with a real dark sky, I'll bet it would look spooky.
That is the kind of shot I love to do experiments.
You did a great job.

Hi Dai....this is a nice dramatic hdr shot...well composed with nice details.

This just jumped out at me in your gallery Dai! I added you as a favorite! I love your work, you have extreme talent and your work does not get the recognition it deserves! The details in this shot are amazing. Where is everyone? This pic should have way more attention! Excellent prosessing! The stone and vines are so beautiful together! Excellent shot!
